Traditional Stone House

1 BEDROOM, 1 KITCHEN-DINING ROOM, 1 LIVING ROOM, 1 BATHROOM The house sits on the top of the hill of the old harbour facing the sea. Chora-Ioulida is the capital town 5.5km from Korissia. You can reach the house through the stone paved streets of the old town in 5 min distance from the port (150m Stone Street and 60 steps). From the front porch you can see the sea, the town of Korissia, Vourkari and Ioulida the beautiful capital of the island climbed in the centre of Kea towards the north east. The house was built by stone about eighty years ago and it is restored with care so that it keeps the feeling of its old use. At the same time it provides all the comforts of a modern house and it is easy and relaxing to live in. Because of the thick stone walls and the traditionally made roof covered by soil the house is very well insulated and also it is very well ventilated with openings in the front and back. This makes a/c unnecessary during even the hottest days of summer. Nevertheless stand up fans are provided. A car is not absolutely necessary as the house is in the port near the sea. It is useful though for someone who wants to make trips round the island. There are several tavernas within walking distance with excellent (catch of the day) seafood and other traditional Greek dishes. Gialiskari beach is 1km distance away. Vourkari - a famous port for yachts with shops, art galleries, bars and taverns in 2km and Otzias with its long stretched sandy beach in 5km distance.
